As one of the few remaining U.S. furniture manufacturing companies, we are proud to offer products made of hardwoods sourced from a leading wood supplier that practices and supports forest management policies as well as offering products made of recycled wood. We support and encourage the use of wood species that have a quick life cycle and low waste component. We continually strive to reduce our impact on the environment, improve efficiency in the manufacturing process and improve the work environment. We support community organizations for environmental issues by donation of products, event space and attendance.

BUSINESS PRACTICES

• We have been recycling our wood waste in our high output commercial/industrial wood furnace to provide the majority of our warehouse heating needs since winter 2006;
• To conserve energy costs, we maintain a constant temperature of 64 degrees in our 50,000 square-foot mill year-round;
• Our warehouse architecture provides clearstory lighting in the mill, reducing the need for artificial light during daytime work hours;
• We organize our regional deliveries for efficiency where loads are full and combined to the greatest extent possible for multi-drop locations, thus reducing our carbon footprint;
• We shred our overflow wood waste, and it is used at a nearby company for processing and heating;
• We have provided substantial wall and roof insulation in the mill to further reduce heating costs and conserve energy;
• We have added an additional recycled air dust collection system to further reduce airborne dust in the factory and reduce heat loss;
• We implemented an initiative to add paper recycling, paperless communication and LED lighting to our showroom.

PRODUCT PRACTICES AND OBJECTIVES

• We purchase from a wood supplier that sources wood from certified sustainable forests and/or supports reforestation projects;
• We have reduced the use of veneer products by 30% in the last two years, thus reducing our overall use of formaldehyde-based products;
• We strive to use finish materials that emit a reduced amount of off-gases and are constantly working with our supplier anticipating further environmental advances;
• We use water-based glue products which lessen environmental impact through off-gassing;
• We purchase as many raw materials as possible from sources in close proximity to our plant;
• Every consideration is given to purchasing from suppliers whose methods and products most closely conform to green standards of production.
